Before being seated, I was just looking around waiting to be seated like everyone else.
Another family walks in and they ask "how long before seating"? The hostess told them.
You hear a pile of dishes brake in the back, now the seating time is a few more minutes longer.
The wait staff worked together to clean up the mess so no one gets hurt, or complains about a messy or nasty restaurant. I understand things can happen in a fast paced environment.
I notice one of the customers is in a bad mood. The waitress is handling this irritated customer great.
She is being so professional, even though it is not their fault that they had to wait a little longer. The customer keeps changing their mind on what they want (with an attitude), and the waitress is still being professional.
I noticed that even when this waitress went to the other tables, she did not allow the previous customers negative behavior to effect her, instead she took a deep breath and put back on the smile.
As she walked by my table, I said to her "You are doing a Great Job and you are a much better person than that grumpy customer! You overcame all evil with good and I am proud of you."
Her eyes lit up, and that smile started beaming bright. A few kind words made her day.
So many times thing like this have happened to me and I could have used the encouragement.
It would have meant a lot to me, at that moment, if someone would have taken the time to say "I am so proud of you, and I think that you are doing a great job!" right then, instead of holding back or saving it for a later date.
Why? It's all about timing, because I needed that boost right then, not later
Now I am quick to Appreciate others, instead of holding back.
You just never know how a few words can carry someone a long way and help them get through that rough day!
