Wow. That's deep. What do you mean?
What I mean is, that our life is really just a collection of thoughts, that we choose or someone else chooses for us. And whenever our thoughts change on something, so does our life. It's not hard to change our lives - because once the thoughts change - the feelings and actions and results IMMEDIATELY begin to change.
In fact there is almost no effort to it. We simply have to maintain the new way of thinking until it becomes a habit, and Viola! Poof! We just changed our lives! Yeah! Much Applause! The crowd goes wild!! Yes!
An Example: Have you ever seen young people 'in love'? I am talking about teens and pre-teens. You know the ones I am talking about, they come to you and say, 'we've been dating a Looooonnnnngggg time - it's been almost 6 weeks! The kind that can fall in and out of love with 15 people in a school year! The one's who are ready to send out wedding invitations after 2 months and then absolutely 'hate' the person the next. All it takes to develop that kind of love is for the other person to say 'nice' words that get them thinking...'he understands me' 'he Really loves me' 'I am the only one for him' 'he thinks I am pretty' 'they are the ONLY ones in the world who gets me, really gets me' etc...
All it takes to stop loving them is a text/IM/email/Instagram/Facebook Status/Tweet that says the other person is 'single' or was seen talking to or nearby someone else - and just like that the 'spell' is broken. So much for fairy tales.
Now for those of us who managed to 'survive' the roller coaster of emotions and graduate from teen 'angst' into adult life, we have developed a certain wisdom about things. We understand that 'nice' doesn't always mean what they want us to think it means. We discovered that we are easily manipulated by others when we are young because we have not yet decided how we want our lives to look. So we fall for every thought that is thrown our way and the emotional rush that comes with them. And since we hadn't yet learned to press the pause button before we speak or act, we end up doing things that cause more problems.
Thank God we can change our lives, by changing our thoughts. My favorite author puts it this way 'be NOT conformed to this world, but be ye Transformed by the Renewing of your mind in Christ Jesus our Lord'.
Another piece of wise advice; 'Always Consider the Source', meaning don't just react to everything, think about it - who said it, how are you taking it, what have you decided that it means, and is that the best decision or could you decide it means something else that would be more beneficial?
Best of Life to you
