"Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?"
What does it mean to 'examine yourselves' ?
Look at your behavior, your actions, your words. Are you still living a pure clean holy life dedicated to exalting God in your day to day activities?
When you know you are doing something that can cause someone else harm or doing something that is just plain wrong. And you are only doing this just to be liked by someone. You feel very uncomfortable doing this, yet you do it anyway. Recognizing what you are doing, and why you do what you do, is what it means to 'examine yourself'.
When it says to "see if you still be in the faith", it is meaning if you are doing something that you know that is not representing the Lord, then you are wrong. If this something is causing you to be ashamed, you should examine yourself to see if this is pleasing your flesh (worldly desires/comfort zones), and you think it is more important than pleasing the Lord God. And then put yourself back in agreement with the Word.
When it says "reprobate" this mean you have refused to change your behavior for so long that you have been 'evaluated and found unfit' for salvation. So as long as you keep correcting yourself then Jesus's light will shine in you. As some of the kids like to say, 'come correct'.
Breaking open scripture y'all, for the next 30 days, stay tuned!
With Love,
~ Miss J
