The Pattern ... sad stories

There is a pattern...
where some people feel that, if they tell you a sad story, you will feel sorry for them and then bless them.

This sad story is designed to tug on your heart, to cause you to not be able to sleep at night, because you are thinking of the ways you can Bless this individual.

This individual gets their thrills from the attention that comes with the problems.  Don't you dare solve the problem without donating something.

You now have become their enemy.  They don't want their problems solved, they want the attention, free lunch, gift card, cash, etc...  How many stories have you heard someone tell, because they love the attention?

Instead of being so quick to help, start praying about the problem.  If they tell you a sad story, say "I will pray about it".  If they choose to distance themselves, and turn to someone else who is quick to help them, then you know what's up.

They don't want your prayer, they want the attention and the gifts.

You are not suppose to break their pattern.
