TRUST: a Teacher's Influence and Authority

So many people's lives have been ruined because of someone they trusted.

I remember asking a question to an individual and the answer I received was shocking.  Their Parents trusted someone to do what was right and Instead they planted horrible seeds that caused this person to give up!

Now you be the judge:

I said to John Doe, 'You are so skilled in _____, why haven't you gone any further?  You could have had your own company by now.'

They replied, 'When I was in the 8th grade, I really enjoyed going to school but this one teacher was a real challenge for me.  This Teacher did not have a lot of patience with us.  I was told 'I have seen your kind before, you are just trying to get me to not teach class and spend all this time helping you'.  And the teacher went on to say, 'It's not going to happen, either keep up or quit, because you have no excuse.'

Since 'John Doe' could not keep up, they started skipping class and found other students who were doing the same thing.  Several of these students were smoking and 'John Doe' started smoking also.  Hanging out with the wrong crowd led to other things, worse things.

Why?

Because of what a Teacher said to them in front of the entire class, embarrassing them, instead of having patience.

Just because someone has a 'title', does not mean that they enjoy doing what they do - or that they are qualified for it.

This Teacher's authority and influence hurt this person's self-image and the damage done they are still experiencing today.
